Reflection

Muhammad Ilhanz Bani bin Jefridin

Embarking on my inaugural foray into UI and UX design through the lens of Human-Computer Interaction has been an exhilarating journey. Crafting interfaces that resonate with users has proven to be not just a task but a canvas for innovation and creativity. The thrill of designing UI, weaving together aesthetics and functionality, has added a new dimension to my perspective. This newfound skill set, cultivated through this project, serves as a potent tool for my upcoming endeavor—a groundbreaking application slated for my final project next semester. The fusion of excitement, learning, and the tangible impact on my future projects underscores the transformative power of immersing oneself in the realm of HCI-inspired design.

Engaging in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) course, our group focused on designing an interface for food delivery apps to address existing flaws and elevate user satisfaction. Through rigorous user research involving surveys, interviews, and usability testing, we gained crucial insights into user needs and behaviors. Embracing a user-centered design approach, we iteratively refined the interface, prioritizing feedback to ensure optimal usability. Accessibility considerations were integrated, incorporating features for diverse user needs. Collaborative efforts within the group were pivotal, leveraging diverse skills and perspectives. The project also allowed us to explore emerging technologies, such as augmented reality and predictive analytics, showcasing the relevance of staying current in interface design trends. Overall, this HCI project has equipped us with practical skills, emphasizing the significance of thoughtful design to enhance user experience in real-world applications.

The first thing that came to my mind when I did this project was, to design an interfaces for user, we first need to understand the user's requirement. This is to ensure that the design we made is user-friendly, while adhere to the features needed or requested by the user.  Moreover, I learned how to use Figma more efficiently since before this project, I have little to non experience about this software. I also gained knowledge on how to incorporate these specifications into wireframes. We have to put the wireframe into practice in order to create the mock-up. In addition, this challenge taught me how to use these elements hierarchy, consistency, user control, and accessibility within the framework of new design principles. However, we also improved our creativity and UI/UX design abilities. Because every application has unique needs, data structures, and user functions, these elements are essential.

Designing UI and UX for my first project feels like stepping into a new knowledge that i never think of. It's an exhilarating adventure, crafting every detail with the precision of a Hollywood blockbuster. As I embark on creating an application for my final semester, I'm the DevOps of a user-friendly experience, where every line of code is a scene in the making. I navigate the intricacies of design, ensuring a symphony of delight in every interaction. User feedback is my script review, guiding this epic journey to UI success. It's not just a project and the audience's satisfaction is my ultimate goal.

Studying human-computer interface principles has been a great starting point for UI design. Designing UI/UX elements has been fun, but it has also taught me a lot about user-centered design. I’ve learned a lot about usability and how design and functionality go hand-in-hand. This hands-on learning has had a huge impact on my next semester’s final project. It’s laid a solid foundation for me to create user-centric apps. I realized how iterative interface design is and how important it is for users to have feedback and keep improving. All in all, this project has given me a better understanding of how HCI concepts work and how to combine technology with user-centered design principles. This project has been a huge turning point for me, and it serves as a foundation for my future projects & approach by focusing on user needs & experiences within innovative application development.
